Our trip to Antelope Canyon was a dream come true, so I highly recommend taking a tour to Antelope Canyon from Las Vegas. There is nowhere else in the world where you can see curves of water-carved sandstone lit from above as if by magic.
This natural masterpiece was formed millions of years ago by rushing water, and today it’s an otherworldly sight. The smooth, striated walls are unlike anything we’ve seen, making this one of the top day trips from Vegas.
As I mentioned in our guide to visiting Antelope Canyon, you can’t access this slot canyon on your own. You will need to book a tour with a Navajo guide since it’s on Navajo land. And since many people (us included) use Las Vegas as a home base, there are various Antelope Canyon excursions available right from the Strip.
I think an Antelope Canyon tour from Las Vegas is super convenient especially if you don’t have a car, don’t want to rent one, or you prefer an organized itinerary. Plus, most tours also visit Horseshoe Bend, so you can make the most of your time and money.
In this article, I’ll share the top 5 tours to Antelope Canyon from Las Vegas and tips to help you plan your visit.

Lower or Upper Antelope Canyon tours from Las Vegas – Which is best?
Before you depart from Las Vegas to tour Antelope Canyon, you must decide whether you want to see Upper Antelope Canyon or Lower Antelope Canyon.
Upper Antelope Canyon is where you’ll find beams of sunlight filtering through the sandstone during the summer months. If you want to get the most iconic photos of the canyon, you should book an Upper Antelope Canyon tour from Las Vegas.
That said, if you want to save money, booking a Lower Antelope Canyon tour from Las Vegas is your best bet. You won’t see any light beams here, but this area is wildly beautiful, and you’ll have more time and space to move around and explore. However, while the price is cheaper, the hike through the canyon is more difficult and involves climbing up and down ladders, and it’s not necessarily less crowded!
If you prefer an off-the-beaten-path alternative, take a tour from Las Vegas to Canyon X, a lesser-known section of Antelope Canyon with fewer crowds.
I have visited the three sections of the slot canyon on different trips, and for a first-time visitor, I recommend taking a tour to Upper Antelope Canyon from Las Vegas if you’re seriously into photography. If you’re just there for the experience, I recommend going to Lower Antelope Canyon.
Some excursions let you choose which section to visit and adjust the price accordingly. If you’re interested in a multi-day trip from Las Vegas to Antelope Canyon, be aware that the price typically doesn’t include your admission ticket to the slot canyon, so you’ll have to buy it separately.

Hi, We are coming to las Vegas and just at the planning stage, coming in August, I have some mobility problems, i can walk and do stairs but slowly and need a handrail! can walk a reasonable distance but need to sit for a moment quite often! Arthritis! I would love to see Upper Antelope canyon and also Bryce, Zion, Monument valley etc. Any idea of the best way, We don’t want to drive it. Also want to see the Grand Canyon but not sure which aspect is best? I wondered about a helicopter flight which then comes back down the strip at night to see the lights. I am told i must see Monument valley and skip the skywalk! Thanks for your time Best Kathy
Just wondered if a trip can include some of these things or if day trips are better.
Hi Kathleen,
Las Vegas is a great base camp from which you can visit Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, etc. I definitely recommend a Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Las Vegas. Upper Antelope Canyon is definitely the best option in terms of accessibility. You can see some of the main viewpoints in Bryce Canyon without having to walk too much, and Zion has a shuttle bus, which makes things easier. The scenic drive in Monument Valley is great, and you can drive on your own and stop at any points that you want to explore further.
